Surf Internet has been working in several communities putting down fiber systems for internet users.
During the Sterling City Council meeting Monday evening, Alderman Josh Johnson asked if the city had any idea when Surf would be finished. He pointed out the company said it would be finished in a year and it is now going on three.
City Manager Scott Schumard said they are getting information of problems as well as a great deal of personnel turnover at Surf.
Schumard said the company needs to use some ComEd poles to run their lines. The company said they are having a tough time getting approval from ComEd.
Johnson asked the City Attorney Tim Zollenger if the city had any teeth to get them to finish the job. He was told bluntly…no.
