A Passenger Attempts to Flee From Police and is Facing Numerous Charges Following a Traffic Stop

On Tuesday evening, August 19, Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West Blackhawk Dr and South Fox Run Ln in Byron.

During the investigation, a passenger attempted to flee on foot. The passenger was identified as 19-year-old Alexander J Kurtz of Rockford. Kurtz was taken into custody and arrested for Unlawful use of a weapon, Unlawful use of a weapon under the age of 21, Possession of a stolen firearm, Resisting a peace officer, Possession of a firearm without a FOID, and Possession of ammunition without a FOID.

The driver, 20-year-old Skylar J Risner of Rockford was cited for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Risner was released on a notice to appear.

An additional passenger, 20-year-old Jordan Jarvis of Sterling was cited for unlawful possession of cannabis as a passenger, and was released with a notice to appear.

Kurtz was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was left in the custody of Jail staff and is being held pending a court appearance before a judge.
