United Way Announces 2025 Day of Caring Event in Lee & Ogle Counties

day-of-caring

Hey Sam Ramirez here. I have participated in many United Way of Lee County’s Day of Caring and it’s such a rewarding feeling. I remember one year, painting the City of Dixon Water Department building. One year, we painted benches and poured mulch at Washington and Reagan Schools in Dixon. My first year of Day of Caring, I remember helping GoodFellows of Lee County clean up their area and set up items on shelves. It truly is an experience that I hope you’ll take advantage of this year.

Hundreds of Volunteers Expected to Unite for Community Service Projects on September 13th United Way of Lee County and United Way of Ogle County are thrilled to announce the return of Day of Caring on Saturday, September 13th, from 9am to 12pm. This annual half-day volunteer extravaganza will bring together friends, families, coworkers and neighbors to complete more than 20 service projects across Lee & Ogle County.

From paint projects and cleaning parks to assisting local nonprofits, volunteers will see firsthand the tangible improvements their efforts bring to neighborhoods, public spaces, and community organizations.

“Day of Caring is a great way to get involved in the community and lend a hand to complete local service projects! It is a great example of the collective power that we have when we unite as a community,” said Ashley Richter, Executive Director of United Way of Lee & Ogle County.

Last year, 125 volunteers completed 20 service projects, and United Way is aiming to make this year’s event even bigger and more impactful. With the support of local businesses and community members, Day of Caring showcases what is possible when people come together with a shared purpose.
