Rock Falls Reclamation Department Presents Scholarship

The Rock Falls City Council met in session Tuesday night and things started out with a presentation by Ted Padilla, Superintendent of the Water Department.

He presented a $1500 scholarship through the Groundwater/Electric/& Water Reclamation Departments to Addison Watts. Watts shared that she will be attending UIC in Chicago to begin her studies in Occupational Therapy.

Diane Shepherd, Superintendent of the Utility Office wanted residents to know that their recycling totes will start to be picked up this week.

Shepherd went on to explain that once all of the totes have been picked up, Midwest Disposal will be bringing out new trash cans and totes. Midwest will go to a 3 day a week pick up that might change a few residents’ prior pickup.

In other news, John Watts, one of the organizers for the Touch a Truck of Rock Falls event asked the council to close E. 2nd Street between Avenue A and the entrance to the Holiday Inn on June 28, from 8am to 9pm. The request was approved.
