The Sterling Riverfront Park continues to take shape.
During the Sterling City Council meeting Monday evening, the members were asked to approve the purchase of ice equipment for the skating rink at the park. City Manager Scott Schumard was asked if the skating rink would be ready by this winter. He said that is the hope.
Schumard said it is very important to get the piping in now along with the concrete work. If the weather stays nice and warm through October, they should have the refrigeration system installed and ready to go.
The funding has been secured for the rink. The current work would be about $416,000.
The Riverfront Park now has a name. The council voted have the park named Northwestern Steel and Wire Park.
