On Friday evening, June 13, Ogle County Deputies responded to the 1,700 block of West Illinois Route 64 regarding a reported two-vehicle collision with unknown injuries.
After an investigation, it was determined that a Volkswagen Passat traveling westbound struck a Nissan Rogue traveling eastbound. After striking the Nissan, the Volkswagen continued into the south ditch, striking a utility pole, and then overturning in a field.
Deputies placed the driver of the Volkswagen Passat, 22-year-old Abby L. Wellman of Sterling under arrest for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. Wellman was additionally cited for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Improper Lane Usage, and failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. Wellman was transported to OSF St. Katharine’s Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, and released with a Notice to Appear in court on a later date.
Members of the Oregon Police Department, the Mount Morris Fire Department, and the Oregon Fire Department assisted Deputies at the scene.
