In Lee County, including in Dixon, there are several abandoned and nuisance properties both entities are trying to deal with.
Some of the plans are to try to get the property renovated. Other steps would mean the demolition of the property.
To help with this, Lee County and the City of Dixon joined to get a Strong Communities Grant to facilitate the demolitions, said Dixon City Attorney Rob LeSage.
To facilitate the use of the grant, the city approved an intergovernmental agreement between them and the county. This makes the county the lead entity to deal with properties in the county.
LeSage said the city and the county would be working hand in hand to identify the properties and identify the activities Lee County can conduct. The amount of the grant the city receives is $75,000.
