Sterling Police have arrested 27-year-old Juan Cabral-Rubio of Sterling. This was following an investigation into a hit and run at West 19th Street and Oak Grove Ave.
Cabral-Rubio was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
On June 8, 2025 at 2:11AM the Sterling Police Department was dispatched to a hit and run accident at the intersection of West 19th Street and Oak Grove Avenue. A black SUV was westbound on West 19th Street and failed to stop at the stop sign at Oak Grove Avenue. The SUV continued westbound across Oak Grove Avenue leaving the roadway and striking a ComEd utility pole.
Cabral-Rubio was given a notice to appear.
