The City of Dixon spent a good chunk of change to the Fulfs Family for 65-acres of land that lays east of the Wal-Mart. The land was farmland and the city hopes they could open up the land for retail business.
Now the city has approved a lease to a Dixon Farmer, Brad and Angela Shippert, who wants to farm the land. The lease is a one-year lease and then the city would evaluate moving forward if there are any development of the area says City Attorney Rob LeSage
LeSage gave the details of the lease. Shippert would be paying $200 per acre of the 65 acres. One stipulation says if Shippert cannot get his crop in by June 15, he could terminate the lease agreement. The lease runs through December 31 of this year.
