Forty Years ago the first Sauk Valley Community College Child’s Fair was held. This past Saturday morning the tradition continued. Hundreds of families and their kids came to the event.
Dr. Lori Cortez helped to organize the Child’s Fair. She said they hear parents talk about coming to the fair when they were kids.
Cortez estimated about 2,000 kids or more would be coming to the fair.
While at the fair, they would find numerous booths from Sauk Valley Businesses and Organizations. Each gave out items to the kids. There were a couple of big draws at the event. The Sterling Police Department Comfort Dog drew a good crowd. Many of the kids also enjoyed the animals at the petting zoo.
