Dixon Looking to Give Stone Arches a Bit of TLC

If you drive down First, Second or Third Streets in Dixon, you would pass under historic structures.  These are the century old railroad stone arches.  The City of Dixon has owned the arches for many years.

Dixon Public Works Director Matt Heckman said when they began the ITEP Project with the pathway built over the arches they gave them an assessment.  It was determined they were in good shape; however, they still need a little repair and care.

Heckman said they would start on the arch at 2nd Street because this roadway does not have the traffic as the others do.

The repairs would consist of tuck pointing and replacing some of the cement.

The city would like to maintain the historic aspect of the arch.  This is why they are working with Willet Hoffman and the company Leveritt Incorporated.  Leveritt specializes in renovation and repairs of historic structures.  The cost would be $46,422.80.
