Dixon Public Works Director Matt Heckman said over the years, one of the roads that has caused complaints from Dixon commuters is South Galena Avenue. This is a state route; the state is to handle maintenance.
That Maintenance is to begin of Monday, June 2. Heckman said this work could cause some traffic snarls, however, he believes IDOT crews might do some work at night to help prevent the traffic problems.
The state will be repaving the roadway between 7th Street and Division. Heckman said the roadway there has crumble away. They will also be working to make some of the crosswalks ADA compliant.
Heckman said the city would be helping the state with replacing some manholes and moving a couple of fire hydrants. The work is expected to last most of the summer. It should not interfere with the Petunia Festival.
